The GT Grade practically invented the gravel bike category with its initial introduction in the 2015 model year. Since then, it has already gained many fans. Thanks to its relaxed, yet sporty geometry, this bike remains comfortable to ride even after hours in the saddle. With its dampening "Floating Stays" seat stays and the wide tires already installed at the factory, it also offers fun off paved roads. Available with either a carbon or aluminum frame. As the eGrade/Power Series, this gravel bike also offers electronic assistance.

Upon registration, GT offers a lifetime frame warranty on the Grade (conditions apply).

The History of the GT Grade

GT Bicycles, an American bicycle brand primarily known for its mountain bikes and BMX, introduced the Grade model in 2014. The company recognized early on, ahead of many others, the growing interest in gravel bikes and developed the GT Grade to meet the needs of cyclists who are comfort-oriented on the road as well as off-road.

The Different GT Grade Models

To cater to a wide range of interests and budgets, there are three main models of the GT Grade:

GT Grade Carbon:

The GT Grade Carbon is the top model in the GT Grade series and features a high-quality carbon frame and carbon fork for a propulsion-oriented and stiff ride. The so-called Floating Stays seat stays are designed to provide a particularly comfortable ride due to their flex. This is a major advantage in terms of impact absorption, both off-road and on rough road conditions.

GT Grade Alloy:

The GT Grade Alloy is the more affordable alternative to the carbon model and offers an aluminum frame. A carbon fork is also used on these models, providing better shock absorption and a smoother ride. The alloy models also have a modern geometry and are available in various configurations.

GT eGrade (Power Series):

The GT eGrade/Power Series is the e-bike version of the GT Grade and features a powerful Mahle electric motor for additional support, making it easier to handle long rides or steep climbs. The eGrade models are barely recognizable as e-bikes due to the integrated battery in the down tube (replaceable) and the low weight ensures easy handling in everyday use.

The Unique Geometry of the GT Grade

The geometry of the GT Grade was developed with a focus on creating an ideal combination of comfort and performance. The longer wheelbase, slack head angle, and short chainstays provide a sporty yet relaxed seating position and excellent control on uneven terrain. This has been confirmed by both our customers and numerous international trade media. The so-called Triple Triangle construction of the frame reduces vibrations and increases stiffness for a more enjoyable ride experience.

The Components of the GT Grade

The GT Grade is equipped with a range of high-quality components that ensure optimal performance and durability.

Gears and Brakes

All GT Grade models feature a Shimano gear system. From the Claris on the Grade Elite to the specially developed GRX 800 on the Grade Carbon Pro for gravel use. In most cases, the installed 2x chainrings at the front provide a wide range of gears to easily tackle both flat and steep climbs. Some models are primarily aimed at performance-oriented riders with 1x chainrings installed at the front. All GT Grade models come with disc brakes, ensuring reliable braking power in all weather conditions and various terrains. From the GT Grade Expert onwards, hydraulic disc brakes are used consistently.

Wheels and Tires

For the GT Grade wheels, aluminum hollow chamber rims and hubs for thru-axles are used exclusively. A wider width compared to road bike rims provides additional stability and is also better suited for the wider gravel tires, which are often Tubeless Ready depending on the model. The tire width for most models is 37mm, which provides extra comfort and grip on unpaved roads.

Cockpit and Saddle

The GT Grade features a comfortable handlebar, which allows for a variety of relaxed hand positions. The saddle has also been designed for long hours on the bike. This ensures ergonomic conditions for lasting enjoyment on extended tours.
